Located right in the heart of Naples, the head chef at this Bayfront restaurant prepares each meal only using fresh locally sourced ingredients. The Prestigious Awards and Certificates hanging on the dining room walls including TripAdvisor and Zagat serve as real endorsements for the quality of the dishes and the excellent service you receive when dining at this “Naples Best” establishment. 

“We use an iPad-based POS and the flow of business at our restaurant can get intense at times so even with all the extra money and value proposition Merchant Doodle presented us with, we made it very clear that we were only interested in switching – if and only if – the process would be seamless AND our current gift card system and all outstanding card value could be converted over with the processing so that our current customers would still be able to redeem the gift cards they had.    

 After lengthy communication with our POS provider and a lot of planning, Merchant Doodle delivered and we got the new processing setup, all the extra money they had promised, and a new no-monthly-fee gift card program that included all the outstanding value floating around on our customers cards.  

Where the Owners were coming from:

This “Naples Best” restaurant founder is a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts. The restaurant gets very busy and as a first priority the owner didn’t want to make any mistakes that would disrupt or slow down current day-to-day operations in any way.  

Additionally, the owner wanted to stay with the current website provider he already had in place, and wanted us to agree to work with that provider on any collaborative projects or updates necessary, such as rolling out the new gift card program on the businesses website.  

Weve been with our current website provider for ages and didn’t want to switch that part of the business, so we were also really happy when we found out that the Merchant Doodle team not only was good with that decision, but that they would work with our current website provider on any projects or anything else that we needed them to collaborate on. In-House Success Notes:

The business was interested in saving money on payment processing fees if and only if: 1) they could continue to use their current POS system, and 2) all their outstanding gift cards could be converted over with the new payment processing so the restaurant would still be able to redeem any existing gift cards that customers might bring in, and 3) the switch would be seamless, and 4) we would agree to work with their current website provider and any other “outside” vendors they utilize even if/when our products and services overlap.

The business owner was pleasantly surprised to find out that we routinely work with outside POS system providers, website and ordering system providers, and other vendors with whom our services overlap. After doing a real side-by-side comparison (cost analysis) of the payment processing the business was currently using, we tested one of their gift cards to confirm we could execute the gift card integration without experiencing any glitches or issues (our systems integrate with 95% of all gift card systems on the market, but we like to run realistic checks anyway just to be sure). 

 To ensure the change-over was executed seamlessly, our team communicated directly with the owner’s POS team multiple times prior to the switch of both the payment processing and the gift cards. After multiple verifications and trial-runs we coordinated the change-over time with the POS vendor and the team at the upstream processor for a time when the restaurant was closed in order to eliminate any additional stress and/or operational hiccups.  

 Initially we presented the business owner and restaurant with annual ongoing extra cash of around 5K, a free gift card program, a free paper program, a concierge-level of customer service, and an extremely well-prepared change-over process.

Q: Was there any particular criteria you used for selecting a new merchant services partner?

A: Honestly, I wasn’t looking to switch or even thinking about it.  I thought we were more than good and I didn’t want to mess anything up because everything was working just fine. But after Christy visited a couple times I realized that it probably wouldn’t hurt to see where we were at, so I gave her our statements to do a pricing workup. I can tell you today that I’m really thrilled that I did!  They put over 5k year back in my pocket which is huge and they were able to easily convert all our gift cards over too. Plus their gift card program is FREE so no more $50 every month just to accept and sell gift cards.  A major part of our decision was the fact that theyre here in Naples where were at. We like that theyre just a quick text or call away. And free paper, the free paper program is pretty cool too. One time I ran completely out and called them just to get the paper sizes so I could run to the office supply store and grab some more , but no… they actually ran 8 rolls right over which gave me plenty of time to re-order from the unlimited paper program.
